Traveling with kids via flight will be both an exciting and challenging journey. But don’t forget that the airport has certain rules and regulations for the passengers carrying kids. For instance, children under 5 years of age aren’t allowed to travel alone until he or she is under the supervision of a guardian. And for children above 5 years, it is permissible to travel alone but parents need to follow some guidelines.

What do you need to know?

  • Whenever you plan to travel with kids, don’t forget to carry proof of age such as a passport and birth certificate.
  • No extra seats are given for infants as they need to travel on their parent’s lap.
  • Only one infant per adult is allowed to travel.
  • Some aircraft have limitations when it comes to the hand baggage allowance of up to 7kgs
  • Children between 5-12 years are treated as minors and above 12 but below 18 years fall under the young passenger list.
  • International young or minor passengers traveling without parents will need to bring written consent from the parents and authorized department.

Tips for Navigating Airports with Kids

  • Make sure your kid has got enough rest so that he or she won’t disturb you while traveling.
  • Don’t forget to take the favorite snacks for your child and send him/her with all the essentials.
  • Plan some fun activities like carrying books, toys, or something that can hold the attention of your child.
  • When you are carrying multiple luggage, it’s advised to use baby strollers at the airport.
  • Let your child have fun at the children's play area if he/she acts impatiently.
  • While booking the ticket, it’s best to keep your child on the window side because he/she can create rapid movements which can land you up in trouble.

By keeping all these things in mind, you can ensure a safe and hassle-free traveling experience for your child.
